You probably know Smith Steel & Fabrication as a leading manufacturer of specialized, all welded, steel tanks for light-duty and industrial bulk storage applications. Smith Steel & Fabrication has designed and fabricated round and square steel tanks from our location in Atwood Ontario for close to 50 years. Our products are all hand built, allowing us the ability to custom fabricate almost any tank to meet the specific requirements of our clients.

But Smith Steel & Fabrication is about more than just tanks. Whether it’s a custom smoker, an industrial flare-stack, a stainless steel structure or just about anything else, our experienced team can design and fabricate it. Coupled with our large finishing bay, our capabilities ensure your project is completed within specifications, on time and on budget.

CWB Certified Workforce

At Smith Steel & Fabrication, we recognize the importance of having a highly skilled workforce and so we ensure that staff training opportunities are ongoing. Our shop is CWB certified to CSA W47.1 standards, and our welder-fitters are tested and qualified by CWB on an ongoing basis, with a welding supervisor in-house to ensure that approved CWB welding procedures are being followed.

We also understand that employee retention and engagement are keys to our success and so we strive to give employees every opportunity to have a healthy work-life balance and to cross-train on other functions. Many management opportunities are given to existing staff who have expressed interest in leadership roles. With the safety and well-being of our employees as a top priority, we continually upgrade and retrain on health and safety matters. Without our dedicated employees, we could not service our clients in the manner expected from us.

Continuous Improvement

The management team at Smith Steel & Fabrication continually reviews processes and procedures, improving them whenever possible, so that a safe work-place is offered to our employees and a cost-effective quality product is offered to our clients. We are constantly amazed at how often we improve our processes and the back of our yard, where old equipment is stored before being decommissioned and scrapped, is a testament to our continuing improvement philosophy.
